Amdocs Continues to Drive Cloud Innovation; Participates in Second Industry Showcase that Demonstrates Future Service Provider Cloud Operations

Join TELUS, HP, Cariden, Aria Networks, Tail-f and startup Sidonis as they demonstrate a cloud service experience that only communications service providers can offer

DUBLIN (May 24, 2011) – As part of a TM Forum Catalyst project at Management World taking place this week in Dublin, Amdocs, the leading provider of customer experience systems, will demonstrate sophisticated network planning and charging capabilities that factor in measurements of network service quality. Amdocs will also demonstrate new, real-time charging models that improve service providers’ ability to manage and monetize cloud services reseller networks.

The Catalyst project is championed by TELUS and will showcase the interoperability of Amdocs, HP, Cariden, Aria Networks, Tail-f and Sidonis products to manage cloud-based, video-on-demand and Internet services. TELUS is a leading multi-play provider in Canada offering wireline, wireless, Internet and television services.

“Cloud computing is emerging as the standard IT and communications mode of operation for enterprises, small and medium businesses (SMBs) and consumers,” said Zouheir Mansourati, vice president, Technology Strategy at TELUS. “As a provider of cloud services, TELUS is interested in state-of-the-art management tools that will provide a holistic view of the network and computing resources and that will enable us to respond rapidly to changing market demands and operational needs. Flexibility, time-to-market, and effective class-of-service differentiation are key success criteria in the cloud. We are seeking solutions that would help us to realize them.”

Catalyst systems and scenarios

The Catalyst project demonstrates that service providers who can control network quality are uniquely positioned to capture new cloud revenues by offering quality-guaranteed cloud services and more attractive price plans.

Service delivery quality levels are measured in near real-time by Cariden’s MATE software and compared to the service level agreements (SLAs) provided by the HP Universal SLA Manager (USLAM). HP USLAM builds subscription level SLAs as part of each cloud service bundle and offers visibility of SLA performance through an end user portal, provided by the HP Aggregation Platform for SaaS (AP4SaaS). The service delivery quality measurements are factored into planning of IT and network resource consumption, modeled using Amdocs OSS and Aria Networks products. These measurements are also factored into settlement schemes adjustments and price optimization for services offered by cloud wholesalers and resellers, using Amdocs’ revenue management products.

In addition, Sidonis performs real-time correlation on the delivered service to determine the root cause of faults and congestion, and Tail-f provides model-driven, transaction-safe resource provisioning software.

The TM Forum Catalyst program calls for vendors to collaborate on solutions that culminate in live demonstrations, addressing service providers’ most pressing requirements. Amdocs is proud to participate in the further development of industry standards through important initiatives such as these.
