Upgrade to Amdocs CES – Mediation 8 allows mobile provider to support growth of data usage while reducing hardware cost
ST. LOUIS (December 22, 2010) – Amdocs (NYSE: DOX), the leading provider of customer experience systems, announced today that Pelephone Communications, Ltd., an Israeli mobile service provider, has upgraded its systems to Amdocs Mediation 8 to support the growth in data usage and the quick rollout of new services. Pelephone is one of the few service providers worldwide with a High-Speed GSM network that can accommodate downloads of up to 21 megabyte per second. It recently introduced several new innovative data services, including a car GPS navigation service based on real-time traffic levels and an e-mail service for older-generation mobile phones.
“Amdocs Mediation 8 can support the expansion of our new network technologies and business strategies with out-of-the-box functionality, while providing operational efficiencies,” said Hanan Alexander, Director of customer care and billing at Pelephone. “We can now process a higher volume of usage events in a shorter time-frame, using Linux-based servers. As a result, we can introduce new services in a timely manner, and reduce costs by using cost-effective hardware.”
Mediation is the process of collecting usage data and processing it into business information to be used by the different business and operational support systems. Amdocs Mediation handles all service types (voice, data or content), payment plans (prepaid or postpaid, fixed or content-based billing) and processing modes (real-time or batch) via a single system. Amdocs Mediation has been supporting voice and data mediation at Pelephone since 2003.
