Replacement of existing systems will automate service fulfillment to reduce operational costs
ST. LOUIS (January 06, 2009) –
Amdocs (NYSE: DOX), the leading provider of customer experience systems, today announced that Vodafone D2 has selected Amdocs Operational Support Systems (OSS) planning and fulfillment products. Vodafone D2 will replace its in-house developed inventory system, with Amdocs’ modular OSS suite, using this as the foundation for its future OSS architecture for planning and rolling out networks, and introducing and fulfilling new services.
As Vodafone D2’s subscriber base continues to grow and its network needs become more complex, it needs an OSS / NSS (network support system) that can address all future system requirements and one that is prepared to support fixed mobile convergence between Arcor and Vodafone D2. VodafoneD2 acquired Arcor in May 2008.
Vodafone D2 will deploy Amdocs OSS to automate processes for network planning and capacity management, fulfillment, and data integrity management and reconciliation. The automation of these processes can ensure more accurate service fulfillment and reduce the costs of network management. In addition, Amdocs OSS products are aligned with Service Oriented Architecture standards to better integrate with existing systems, enabling Vodafone D2 to reduce time to deploy its OSS software.
“When evaluating our plans for our future OSS, Vodafone D2 concluded that we needed a set of OSS products that could help us consolidate our network and meet our present and future objectives,” said Volker Behrend, Head of Group TNSG, Vodafone D2. “Amdocs OSS can deliver the automation and network transparency for ‘right first time’ fulfillment, an essential requirement for gaining a competitive advantage necessary to attract and retain subscribers.”
The agreement expands Amdocs’ long standing relationship with Vodafone. Vodafone D2 has deployed Amdocs billing products and joins a number of publicly announced Vodafone operating companies that have deployed Amdocs OSS or BSS (business support systems) including operating companies in Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Romania, Spain, United Kingdom.
